Lisa M. Robinson is a photographic artist whose work explores geologic time and our human connections to the physical world. Using the natural world as her guide and the 4x5 camera as her means of discovery, she creates images that link the desert to the sea, and the external world to an inner landscape.
The images comprising Snowbound are straight photographs,
made on negative film with a 4x5 camera. They achieve a heightened
sense of surrealism due to the unique atmosphere and light. The prints
themselves are digital c-prints, mounted on archival mat board
and signed on the verso. The qualities of luminescence and light
which have always informed the images are maintained in these prints,
heightening our experience of reality while taking us into otherwordly realms.
