The exhibition, entitled From the Air, presents a wide range of Milstein’s exquisite aerial photographs traveling from Los Angeles to New York to Paris and beyond. Created entirely by helicopter or other aircraft, Milstein’s photographs often require exclusive airspace permission from local government authorities. Working sometimes from thousands of feet in the air, Milstein is able to flatten and compress our perspective into something more than just a bird’s-eye-view. Revealing details and perplexing compositions show the true design and scale of our human footprint, breathtaking architecture, and sometimes absurd constructions.
